Homer Artist

Born in Argentia Newfoundland, Chres grew up on U.S. Coast Guard bases all over the world.  His love of the ocean began when he lived on Guam for 2 years.

Commercial fishing brought the family to Homer, Alaska in 1980 and he graduated from Homer High School in 1985.  Drawing from a young age, Homer High School is where he expanded and nurtured his artistic talent, learning sculpting and painting techniques.  After graduation he took various art classes at Southern Oregon State College in Ashland, Oregon.

Working on the ocean for 10 years, as well as hunting and fishing across the state, brought respect for nature and the wildlife around him.

Now employed as a construction worker in the summer months, Chres spends the winters working on his artwork.  He is self taught and accomplished in many medias, including wood carving, leatherwork, and knife making as well as flat art.
