Jacqui Ertischek Jacqui has been know by our Gallery patrons for many years for her imaginative polymer clay jewelry. Recently she has started in a new direction, creating hand painted giclees. She received her art training from Boston University School of Fine and Applied Arts and the University of Alaska Anchorage. She and her family have lived in Alaska for 30 years. The word giclee (pronounced "zhee-clay") is derived from a French word meaning "a spraying of pigments," and refers to the way the watercolor was reproduced. She starts with photographs and digitally paints a watercolor on it. After hours of work refining the original watercolor, she prints each image in limited editions of between 25-100. Each print is then hand painted to enhance the colors, thereby making it an original work of art. Jacqui's prints have deckled edges and are mounted and shrink-wrapped on black foam core.
