White Heart Trade Beads

Skagway Alaska by Jeanie Vogel

The term "white heart trade beads" traditionally refers to red beads with white centers (though they come in other colors).  They are here in Alaska because the Russians used them to trade with Indians and Eskimos for furs and other goods in the 1700's and 1800's.  Hence the nickname "Russian Trade Beads" $24 - $37
