May 1, First Friday 5-7:30. Guitta Corey, Anchorage collage artist, kicked off our 2015 Summer Series with a visit and new glass plates and framed original images of Homer. Guitta's work is prized for the way she captures the beauty of Alaska through a kaleidoscope of paper from her personal collection.
June 5, First Friday 5-7:30. Ed brought us 2 new wildlife originals featuring our sea otters and sand hill cranes, as well as "Shipwreck," a rare look at the human side of life in Alaska. Ed's work is known and loved for its impeccably realistic detail and the remarkable way he depicts Alaskan light in all its colors.
July 11, Saturday 1-6. Byron Birdsall has been painting Alaska for decades, capturing the light and color like no one else. We are fortunate to have welcomed him and his new show of original watercolors. If you are looking for a vibrant, dramatic piece to bring the beauty of Homer into your home, the Art Shop Gallery is the place and Byron Birdsall is the artist. We also have his new book of pen-and-ink drawings, entitled, Byron Birdsall's Alaska.
Images of Kachemak Bay at the top of our website are by Byron Birdsall, Taz Tally, Ed Tussey, and Jon Van Zyle.
